John, a lifelong walking, and bird watcher is well qualified to help you discover and explore the island coastal walks, seascapes and birdlife.

John is a Bsc (hons) Graduate in Humanities and is an enthusiast in nature and Orkney folklore. He is also a qualified yellow badge Scottish Tour Guide.

The Stromness Heritage Town Walk

Explore 400 years of Maritime Heritage, Town History in the small 16th Century fishing town of Stromness. Listen to the tales of the town’s seafaring characters over the centuries. John takes you to the old courtyards, through the narrow closes and down the small hidden piers along the waterfront to share with you the Stromness Heritage Tales in Situation.

The Guided Scapa Flow Coastal walk

Walk through the timeline of Orkney’s Scapa Flow history and wartime heritage along the North West John Brooksentrance to Scapa Flow. This coastal walk commences at the ‘South End’ of Stromness. Starting at the museum, to the Point Of Ness along the West Shore at the edge of the Hoy Sound.

Discover where natural beauty meets island history as John shares with you, the natural history of Orkney’s landscapes, seascapes and island wildlife.

Easy walking……1 hour 30 minutes approx. £7 each person

By arrangement the above guided walks may be combined to give a bespoke 3 hour walking experience Cost : £14 each person.
